GUIDELINES FOR "NSP-WB 2026-27 " -
WEST BENGAL STATE SCHOLARSHIPS FOR
MINORITY STUDENTS
1. INTRODUCTION
To address the growing aspiration for education in
the minority communities of the state and with a view to providing them more
avenues for socio-economic and educational mobility by extending financial
support and encouragement to the meritorious students belonging to the six
notified religious minority communities, the State Government has decided to
set up the "NSP-WB" West Bengal State Scholarships for Minority
Students in West Bengal to be fully funded from the State budget from the
financial year 2026-27 onwards.
2. TYPES OF SCHOLARSHIP
Three types of scholarships will be provided under
this scheme:
- i) Pre-Matric Scholarship (for
meritorious students from Class-IX to Class-X).
- ii) Post-Matric Scholarship
(for meritorious students from Class-XI to Ph.D).
- iii) Merit-cum-Means
Scholarships (for pursuing technical & professional courses).
3. OBJECTIVES
- The primary objective of the
Pre-Matric Scholarship is to encourage the minority communities to
send their children to schools and to prevent drop-out.
- The Post-Matric
scholarship intends to encourage students to continue their pursuit of
higher education.
- The objective of Merit-cum-Means
scholarship for professional and technical courses is to support the
students to pursue professional / technical studies for consequently
increasing their employability potential.
4. ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA
A. For Pre-Matric Scholarship
- i) Applicant must be a
domicile of West Bengal.
- ii) Must be studying in a
School/ Institution recognized by an educational Board/ Council/
University of the State / Central Government.
- iii) Must have secured not less
than 50% marks or equivalent grade in the previous final examination.
- iv) The annual family income
should not exceed Rs.1 lakh.
- v) Students studying in
institutes outside West Bengal will not be eligible.
B. For Post-Matric Scholarship
- i) Applicant must be a
domicile of West Bengal.
- ii) Must be studying in a
School/ Institution recognized by an educational Board/ Council/
University of the State / Central Government.
- iii) Must have secured not less
than 50% marks or equivalent grade in the previous final examination.
- iv) The annual family income
should not exceed Rs.2 lakh.
- v) Students studying in
institutes outside West Bengal will not be eligible.
C. For Merit-cum-Means Scholarship
- i) The applicant must be a
domicile of West Bengal.
- ii) Must have got admission in
a technical / professional courses.
- iii) Must have secured at least
50% marks in the last Higher Secondary/ Graduation examination.
- iv) Annual family income of the
student should not be more than Rs.2.5 lakh.
- v) Students studying in
institutes outside West Bengal will not be eligible.
- vi) The students who are
residents of West Bengal but pursuing studies in 88 reputed premier
(listed) institutions located inside or outside West Bengal, as may be
notified from time to time by the West Bengal Minorities' Development and
Finance Corporation, are also eligible for applying.
5. DOCUMENTS TO BE UPLOADED (Mandatory)
- Aadhaar Card (Self or

(Aadhaar linked / Seeded Bank Account)

6. SELECTION PROCEDURE
- Scholarships will be
provided to eligible students in order of merit and subject to the
budgetary allocation provided by the State Government.
- For renewal, the applicant
will be eligible for the scholarship if he/she has obtained 50% marks in
his/her previous examination.
7. RENEWAL APPLICATION
Students who have received a Pre-Matric,
Post-Matric and Merit-Cum-Means scholarship the academic session 2025–26 and
has obtained 50% marks in his/her previous examination may be eligible for renewal
for the 2026–27 academic session under their respective scholarship scheme
through this portal.
8. SANCTION PROCEDURE
- The applications will be
received online through a portal designed for this purpose.
- The applications will be
verified by the Nodal Teachers of the respective Institute.
- The selection will be made
as per the eligibility criteria and the disbursement will be made through Direct
Benefit Transfer (DBT).
9. RATES OF SCHOLARSHIPS
The proposed rates of scholarships (figure in
Rupees) are as follows:

10. CONDITIONS FOR SCHOLARSHIP
- (i) The applicant has to submit
a certificate regarding family income at the time of application.
- (ii) For 'renewal' applicants,
the continuance of scholarship will be subject to securing 50% marks in
the previous year examination.
- (iii) Maintenance allowance will
be provided to hostellers and day scholars.
- (iv) Students should be regular
in attendance, for which the yardstick will be decided by the competent
authority of the school.
- (v) If a student violates
school discipline or any other terms and conditions of the scholarship,
scholarship may be suspended or cancelled. The State Government can also
directly cancel the award if duly satisfied of the reasons of violation of
these regulations governing the scheme.
- (vi) If a student is found to
have obtained a scholarship by false statement, his/her scholarship will
be cancelled forthwith and the amount of the scholarship paid will be
recovered.
- (vii) The course/tuition fees and
maintenance allowance will be credited to the Aadhaar Seeded/ linked bank
account of the student directly under Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) mode.
- (viii) An amount not higher than
2% may be kept for administrative expenses by the WBMDFC for
implementation of the Scheme.
GUIDELINES FOR SWAMI VIVEKANANDA MERIT
CUM MEANS SCHOLARSHIP (SVMCM) FOR MINORITIES
Applications are invited from Minority students for
scholarship for the year 2026-27 under “SWAMI VIVEKANANDA MERIT CUM MEANS
SCHOLARSHIP SCHEME FOR MINORITIES” for providing financial assistance to
the meritorious students of West Bengal, pursuing higher studies. The Minority
students of Post Madhyamik levels and onwards in regular courses including
Polytechnic courses, who are resident in West Bengal and studying in
educational institutions of this state after passing out in Current year from
the State Board/Council of Secondary/Higher Secondary, Madrasah Education and
State University may apply for this scholarship (SVMCM for Minorities) subject
to other eligibility criteria as stated below:-
1. ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA FOR SVMCM FOR
MINORITIES
For Fresh application
- 1) Applicant must be a
domicile of West Bengal and has been continuing education in the
recognized institutes situated in West Bengal.
- 2) Student should have passed
out in the current year from recognized institutions affiliated/accredited
to the WBBSE/WBCHSE/WBBME or university situated in the state of West
Bengal.
- 3) Students who passed their X
or XII from CBSE or ICSE their previous Institute must be located at West
Bengal. Outside West Bengal Institute’s candidates will not be eligible to
apply for this scholarship.
- 4) Annual family income not
exceeding Rs. 2.5 lakhs (Certificate to be issued by any gazetted Officer
not below the rank of Joint BDO).
- 5) Minimum marks required in
the last Examination - 60% for Higher Secondary to Graduation
level, and 53% for Post-graduation level & Honours subject at
Graduation level and 55% for Graduation Level in case of
engineering students.
For Renewal Application
- 1) For Higher Secondary Level
to Undergraduate Level - Minimum 60% marks (combining both
semesters).
- 2) For Post Graduate Level - 50%
marks (combining both semesters).
- 3) The student must have
passed the previous class/examination with the prescribed eligible marks
in the first attempt. In the case of semester-based courses, the
student must have cleared all semester examinations in the first attempt.

duly authenticated by the Head of the Institution (HOI) in the prescribed
